Rachel H. Salinas, LPC

Rachel H. Salinas is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) who has been providing individual psychotherapy for the past 7 years in both group therapy practices and community mental health.  Rachel earned her master’s degree in Rehabilitation & Mental Health Counseling at Virginia Commonwealth University in 2018 (only 20 years after earning her bachelor’s degree at Connecticut College in 1998!) and became licensed in the state of Virginia in 2021.  Being a therapist has been a dream of Rachel’s for many years, and she truly enjoys helping clients make changes, both large and small, in their own lives.

Rachel works with adults aged 18 and above using evidence-based interventions such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and mindfulness-based techniques.  She primarily sees clients experiencing any of the following:

  • depression
  • anxiety
  • low self-esteem/self-worth
  • relationship issues
  • grief & loss
  • chronic pain
  • trauma

Rachel approaches the therapeutic relationship with a warm, welcoming, non-judgmental attitude, and sees the client as an equal partner in their treatment. She believes that gaining more insight into one’s problems, motivations, and barriers to change helps a person build a more fulfilling life, and she looks forward to supporting you in building yours.
